Northolt Area Guide

Northolt is a suburban town in outer north west London. The area is cut in half by the Western Avenue (A40) which connects Oxford (as the M40) with the centre of the London. Large-scale private development began after the First World War in the 1920’s and 1930's north of Western Avenue.

In the 1960's and 70's a huge amount of social housing was built to the south particularly along the Kensington and Ruislip Roads. In the last few years, a new large private housing development know as Grand Union Village was built on the former site of the Taylor Woodrow company, adjacent to the Grand Union Canal and incorporates a new canal boat marina.

Home to RAF Northolt, the area can attract staff who are seeking nearby housing for themselves and their families. Northolt Leisure Centre & Library opened in 2010 and has added value to the surrounding area.
